Hiya from your michGPAA Webwrangler!

Well as I type this we have just 2 weeks before our 1st outing of the year in West Branch. I'm looking forward to going here as I've had a hunch about those Northern LP glacial moraines. I'm hoping I'm right.

Concerning West Branch.... Be advised there is road construction going on there. The business loop is being worked on. I highly recommend checking out the MDOT page for road projects on the status of this one so we all can make it with as much time to dig as we can. The link for this is: http://mdotnetpublic.state.mi.us/drive/. As of 5/3/12, single lane closures from 75 to the Rifle River bridge are in effect. Getting into town from the north end of the business loop will more likely be easier. And, just for some that may wonder if there is gold at this property, I had the privilege of getting a sample of material from there. I'll post a pic of the gold I found from that property.

Now, we've all heard rumors of folks finding gold in bags of sand from Home Depot, Lowes, ect... Well, I found a bag of sand at WallyWorld that caught my attention. So, I bought a bag @ about $2.50 and took it home. On the pics page is a video I shot of that stuff being worked on a gold wheel. Check it out. (Be advised that video quality is NOT like that of say Gold Fever or Prospecting America, just sayin'...)

For those that are going to want to camp at Muskalunge S.P., I want to reiterate here that ya want to make reservations for a camping spot.

From Lewis Birdsell we were informed that the Janatis Property is temporarily CLOSED to prospecting. We will be informed as to when we may again access the property, so keep an ear to the ground.

Again, as always, if ya learn of a place where the membership can possibly go prospect, let one of the officers know.
